A Sonnet for Batman

A true love I have, and he’s dressed like a bat

Not a love of the flesh, but more of the heart

He has his problems, one dressed like a cat

If I were his Robin, we would never part

I would gladly fight crime, all days and all nights

But I won’t wear yellow speedos, I don’t have the legs

And I will never dress in all too revealing tights

If only there were someone like him, this soul begs

The Lord knows we need someone who will stand tall

And I think it would be cool to have a hero for a friend

Someone who would be at but a spotlight’s call

Someone who would be there until the bitter end

          I can tell you right now, that I am not gay

          But if Batman were real, I might swing that way
